Geographical location
The municipality of Saalfelden lies in the heart of the Pinzgau Saalach Valley in a spacious valley basin at the foot of the "Steinernes Meer".

Culture, nature and sport mark the image of Saalfelden. Almost 120 associations ensure stimulating activities, predominantly in the spheres of culture and sport.

Economic location
With a surface area of around 120 km² and 15,000 inhabitants, Saalfelden is not only the third largest town (after Salzburg and Hallein) in the province it is also the centre of economy, schools, culture and shopping in the Pinzgau.

Handicraft, trade, environmentally friendly industry, agriculture and tourism define the economic life of Saalfelden.

Saalfelden has also achieved national importance as a centre of education. Around 3,100 pupils complete their education here in the most varied types of schools.
